Getting Sidelined Readers Off the Bench and Back in the Game. This resource helps teachers identify "sidelined" readers and offers a strategic plan to help students find success as well as enjoyment in the "game" of reading. Specific lessons are presented to target three key skill areas-phonemic awareness, phonics, and decoding; vocabulary development; and comprehension and critical thinking.
